June, 2018

Even though summer doesn’t officially begin until June 21, we in west-central Illinois have been contending with summer-like weather since before Memorial Day. This morning we had one heckava thunderstorm, replete with hail. Just another typical winter-into-summer kind of spring.

I have been busy with WIPs. I finished an afghan in time to gift it to a newlywed couple who are now on life’s journey together. Congratulations Grace and Liam! It was a beautiful wedding! Our loss is Wyoming’s gain.34717876_916607311856114_3312546200518918144_n

The other project I have been playing with is hand-knitted and machine felted baskets. I have been knitting baskets and have not been satisfied with the end result. Enter Kraemer Yarns Naturally Nazareth, 100% wool. After hand-knitting, I machine felted the basket and I am quite happy with the result. I am currently working on a second basket made in the same way, experimenting with color and texture. I will post pictures when I have it finished. Here is the first one:34740522_916619105188268_5928964642868035584_n34755388_916612245188954_217142233541902336_n34774678_916612238522288_655463785200353280_n

I continue to crochet the temperature blanket. We have now used 9 of the 10 colors. I hope “Rose Shocking” (for temperatures 100 degrees and more) will be used very sparingly and not until August! At the end of the month I will post a picture as the afghan will be half done!

Thank you for checking in. Until next time —

Take care and keep stitchin’!
