April, 2018

Wow! We keep hoping for Spring, but Mother Nature has other ideas! Today is very cold and windy here, and more snow is forecast later in the weekend! All this blustery weather makes me want to “nest” with a cup of tea and some stitching!

Since we can’t get into our gardens yet, how about a sale to feed our stitch habits? We are having an April Spring Clearance Sale for the entire month of April. We have 40% off Anne Geddes yarn, Sheep-ish, Cotton-ish, Alpaca Dance and Bernat Alpaca yarns. Take 20% off Amish baskets, Shawl-in-a-Ball yarn and kits over $5. Last (but not least), take 10% off clearance items. This is the perfect time to get a great deal on what you need for that special project you’ve been dream-stitching!

Later in the month, join Beth Buck for our latest Knit-a-Long. On Saturday, April 21 from 10:30 am until 2 pm, we will begin Elizabeth Zimmerman’s iconic knitting pattern, Baby Surprise Jacket. I have always wanted to knit this pattern and am excited we can knit it together! Registration is required and space is limited. All registrants will receive 10% off yarn, supplies and the pattern book. Bring your friends and join the fun!

I am still working on my temperature blanket, and yes, I did start on January 1st. One row a day doesn’t sound difficult, until I miss a few days! AND the temperature has been so drastically up and down here that I have been changing yarn color every row! I am looking forward to adding the next color or two as the temperatures rise and Spring not only arrives, but stays.

PROJECT/GIFT IDEA: Stitch a temperature blanket for a new baby! Begin the day the baby is born, and stitch every day for the baby’s first year. Give the finished blanket as the baby’s first birthday gift. You can choose the colors you like or choose ones that coordinate with the nursery. What a treasured keepsake that blanket will be!

Until next time — take care and keep stitchin’!
